YAMAHA 411-SLGB (Ltd Edition) GOLD BRASS CLOSED-HOLE FLUTE WITH OFFSET G, SPLIT E AND C-FOOT (EX-DEMO)

'PERFECT STUDENT UPGRADE'

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a very special model made by Yamaha for the Millennium. Based on the current 411 silver model, it has the same specification with closed-holes, offset G, split E and C-Foot, however the base material is made from gold brass. Yamaha´s unique expertise with the various alloys used in brass instruments led to the discovery that gold brass (brass with a higher than usual copper content) is the perfect material for optimum tone, weight, and playability. The gold brass gives a rich, colourful sound normally found in heavy wall silver or gold flutes and due to the cost of production this particular model was only produced for the Millennium and for a few years after as a special edition. It is therefore very hard to find and a superb purchase for a student wanting the sound of a high specification professional model without the high price tag. The headjoint is the CY cut which is responsive and easy to blow through the registers. This flute also features a .925 solid silver lip-plate and riser and silver-plated mechanism.

This particular flute in stunning condition with no dents andminor marks from handling only. It has never been owned and is beautiful in every respect. These models represent superb value for money and I know a previous buyer who added a pro headjoint and said that the overall tonal quality was very much like solid gold.

This is a rare flute and the Yamaha 400 series is without doubt the most popular intermediate model on the market. The 411 is two solid steps up from the 211 student model and whilst keeping the same ease of play, offers the student a much richer quality of sound. This is a perfect flute for a student coming up to grade 5 level and above and will easily take them through Grade 8 and on to college level.

RAREEDWARD ALMEIDA #459 HANDMADE SOLID SILVER OPEN-HOLED HANDMADE FLUTE WITH SOLDERED TONE HOLES AND B-FOOT

Edward Almeida has been making flutes since 1948, when he first apprenticed with Verne Q. Powell. In 1960 he was invited to become a part owner of the company, and was responsible for a number of significant innovations in flute making techniques which have since become standards in the industry. The Almeida Flute was introduced in 1969. By combining precision tooling and meticulous craftsmanship, Almeida ensured an accurately fitted and tuned instrument of consistently very high quality. Almeida flutes have a well deserved reputation for their lasting quality and for the consistently reliable sound preferred by discriminating performers worldwide. They are extremely coveted and very hard to find on the used market.

This particular flute is in beautiful original condition and has been recently stripped, cleaned and adjusted. It offers the inline G, soldered tone holes and the sought-after B-Foot. These flutes are sought-after mainly for the construction and superb mechanism but this particular flute also blows very well. It is a very rare model and a collector's dream and is ready to play. Please note that personal opinion on restoration and adjustment on these vintage instruments may mean that you will wish to carry out your own servicing. We have serviced this flute and it leaves our workshop in playing condition. These vintage instruments are fragile however and it may need further adjustment on arrival and so we stress this. We have tested the flute with an electronic tuner and it plays comfortably at 440hz. Rarely, this flute comes with a double flute case, as it was originally paired with a Louis Lot owned by the same person. I have seen a few Almeida's in my time and this is by far the nicest example and the best sounding. BEAUTIFUL GEBRÜDER MÖNNIG GRENADILLA WOOD PICCOLO IN C WITH REFORM LIP (#9691)

Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a lovely handmade piccolo from the Gebrüder Mönnig workshop in Markneukirchen, Germany.  Gebrüder Mönnig have been handmaking instruments for over 100 years alongside the Hammig workshop in Markneukirchen. This is a professional handmade piccolo of the highest quality and a superb purchase at an excellent price. It also has the added bonus of a reform lip which helps to focus the breath and makes playing easier than just an embouchure hole.

RARE HAND-CRAFTED SOLID SILVER TIP LAMBERSON FLUTE (#571) WITH 14K GOLD LIP PLATE, OPEN HOLES, SOLDERED TONE HOLES AND B-FOOT IN SUPERB, FULLY SERVICED CONDITION

Nathaniel "Tip" Lamberson (1922–2005), also known as "N.D. Lamberson", was one of the premier American flute makers. He made a total of 730 flutes from 1968 to 1985 , when he officially retired from the flute-making industry. He has also worked in conjunction with Jack Moore, creating 11 Lamberson-Moore models and I sold one of these a few years ago, a Jack Moore body with Lamberson keywork and it was a superb flute.

This particular flute is in beautiful restored condition and new Lucien Deluxe pads (Please note that any repadding is subjective and if you decide that you prefer different padding/adjustment then this is a personal choice). The silver is in beautiful condition with no dents. The headjoint has a 14K solid gold lip, the tone holes are soldered and inline with a B footjoint. It comes with the original wood case engraved with NDL (N.D.Lamberson), which does have a crack in it but functions and the original carrycase which is very worn. I do not know the exact age but I would say that it was in the late 1970's. The pitch will be 440hz on a Cooper scale.

This is a rare flute and a beautiful example of American flute making history.

RARE LOUIS LOT SOLID SILVER CLOSED-HOLE FLUTE WITH C-FOOT (#9660)

Stunning and rare Louis Lot from the last era (Strasser-Marigaux-Lemaire). The Louis Lot company was started in the latter part of the 19th century producing a flute with a seamed tube. His work was highly regarded and has been copied by other main flute makers such as Haynes and Altus over the years.

The Louis Lot company continued after Louis Lot's death and changed hands a number of times before finally being purchased in 1951 by Strasser-Marigaux-Lemaire (SML). SML were known for producing high quality wind instruments and there are a number of flutes produced under the Louis Lot name, mainly plated but some very fine examples. As the serial numbers were changed when SML purchased the Louis Lot company, they run in line with SML serial numbers and not the old LL records. I believe this particular flute to have been made around the 1960's approximately.

This particular flute is a fine example and it is solid silver as it is hallmarked with the French crab sign and also with the SML logo which is the French hallmark guarantee after 1938. It has been marked on the strap as solid silver although we believe that this was a later addition. We have completely overhauled the body but kept the pads as they are seated and in good used condition. It is not a seamed tube as SML dispensed with this method but arguable the mechanism is more solid than the vintage LL flutes and it plays very nicely and to 440hz pitch without having been re-tuned. This is a superb opportunity to obtain a flute from one of the greatest flute makers, in beautiful playing condition and at an extremely reasonable price.

GEMEINHARDT SOLID STERLING SILVER PICCOLO - BEAUTIFUL CONDITION

Here is a superb opportunity to purchase a used Gemeinhardt solid silver piccolo. Gemeinhardt are a superb company based in Elkart, Indiana, with a history that dates back to 1928 and they have been producing quality instruments ever since.

The Gemeinhardt 4S Solid Silver piccolo is perfect for advancing students wanting a raised lip piccolo with an excellent quality of sound. The 4S is bright and responsive and warms up and holds the tuning easier than a wooden piccolo. The design and construction is excellent and this is a high quality piccolo with a sterling silver head and body with soldered tone holes, silver plated mechanism and a conical bore design,  perfect for the serious musician and the concert stage. A more advanced piccolo than the Yamaha piccolo in this price range in my opinion. The silver is brighter than the wood and the lip makes it easy to blow.

This particular piccolo is superb throughout and the pads have plenty of life and are well seated. We have serviced and adjusted the piccolo and it is ready to go. The hardcase is brand new and is a snug fit.
