Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a used Hans Reiner wood piccolo.
Hans Reiner learned flute making from his father Anton, who worked in the Philip Hammig shop. Hans completed his apprenticeship and worked with excellent craftsmen at the Gebr. Mönnig and Phillip Hammig firms. He became a master flutemaker in 1936, set up his own shop and his piccolos are some of the most sought-after in the world.
This particular piccolo is number 120 and I am not sure of the exact age but it would of course be an earlier model. The pitch is in C and it has a split E mechanism. Notes are beautiful and clear and the unique embouchure cut allows an immediate response. The quality is quite simply superb and it has been stripped and fully overhauled with new pads and cork by Andrew Oxley in 2021. The mechanism has been cleaned, oiled and adjusted and there are no cracks. The wood is in excellent condition and overall this is a beautiful example.
