This is a superb opportunity to acquire one of Yamaha’s most sought-after models from its golden era. Yamaha flutes made in the 1970’s were superbly crafted, arguably better than today’s models and this is no exception. The Nikkan Yamaha YFL-63 flute was from Yamaha’s professional range and was introduced as their high-end model in 1973, after Nikkan merged with Yamaha. It is beautifully constructed in solid silver with French pointed key arms and drawn tone-holes.
This particular flute has closed-holes with offset G, split E and C-foot and has been completely restored to beautiful condition. The pads and corks have been replaced, the mechanism stripped, cleaned and oiled and the body polished professionally.
Due to prices of Yamaha models increasing with changing exchange rates, the 600 series particularly have increased steadily in price and are one of the most sought-after advanced models in the range. The current model is the YFL-677 and is priced at £4,333.
