Philipp Hammig Palisander wood piccolo for sale. Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a used Philipp Hammig Palisander (Rosewood) 650/2 piccolo. Hammig are renowned piccolo makers and are coveted by some of the world’s top players. Between 1906 and 1920 the brothers Philipp Hammig and August Richard Hammig started to specialize the instrument making of the Hammig workshop. First both started learning their profession in their father’s workshop, then August Richard Hammig went to Saarbrücken and Philipp Hammig to Berlin to the firm Rittershausen to study specialized flute making. Afterwards they both returned to Markneukirchen and put their skills into practice in their own workshop. Palisander has a beautiful rich grain and gives a warmer sound than the Grenadilla models. They are not often seen on the used market and so are very sought-after models.
This particular piccolo is the 650/2 with silver plated keywork. It has the added bonus of a modified wave headjoint. The condition is excellent throughout and the piccolo itself looks hardly used. The case has marks on the outside which you can see in the photos but otherwise this is in superb condition. Current retail price new is £3,500 for this model with this specification and so this is a super opportunity.
