The Gemeinhardt story begins with Kurt Gemeinhardt, a fourth-generation flute maker. Born in Markneukirchen, Germany—a region with two centuries of instrument-making tradition—Kurt apprenticed under his father. After completing his apprenticeship, he left Germany and brought his skills to St. Gallen, Switzerland, where he handcrafted flutes for some of the world’s most prestigious musicians.
In 1928, Kurt Gemeinhardt accepted an invitation to travel to America and began creating instruments in Elkhart, Indiana. After spending twenty years developing flutes for other companies, he founded his own manufacturing plant, The Gemeinhardt Company, which has continued to produce high-quality instruments to this day.
This particular flute was made in the 1980’s and is offered in very good condition with minor marks/scratches. We have stripped down the flute, polished and adjusted it and it is in excellent condition with used pads. The solid silver headjoint adds extra power to its tone and it plays very nicely with a big mellow tone.
As there are a few small marks I have priced this extremely well to sell. These models are very well built and last a lifetime.
