FLUTEMAKERS OF AUSTRALIA HANDMADE SILVER HEAD WITH 9K RISER AND REFORM LIP
Flutemakers of Australia was formed in 1978 by John Lehner and Ray Holliday and continued for about 20 years. It was a very important partnership, producing handmade heads and flutes that have been sought-after around the world.
This Flutemakers of Australia silver flute headjoint was made by Ray Holliday, probably in the 1980’s. It is made from a higher grade 0.96 silver and it has the benefit of a solid 9K gold riser and heavy wall tubing. It also has a reform lip with a larger embouchure hole, producing a rich and powerful sound, enhanced by the gold. With the heavy wall tubing it would be easily fitted to a larger bore diameter of 19.5mm-20mm. The crown is wood inlaid with engraved silver.
This headjoint would transform any flute and it really blows very well indeed!
