HANDMADE GEBRUDER MONNIG WOODEN FLUTE – SILVER PLATED HEADJOINT
Gebruder Monnig wooden flute for sale in fully serviced condition. Monnig have been making woodwind instruments for over 100 years in Germany and their work is of the highest quality using precision handmade craftsmanship. They are based in Markneukirchen, which is the home of many famous instrument makers in Germany.
This particular flute is a fine example and it is a Grenadilla wood flute with Nickel silver keywork and closed holes. It also comes with the original Nickel plated head. We have serviced the flute and the pads are excellent with plenty of life and seated well. There are no cracks in the wood and the flute plays very nicely at 440hz. The tone is very rounded in sound with the mellowness of wood and the projection and slight edge of metal from the headjoint. This is a lovely flute for playing early music or folk and to just enjoy the quality of wood with the ease of a metal head. These older German flutes are very well constructed and represent superb value. I have also paired them with more modern headjoints to transform the sound and to gain more power and projection. To do this you would just need to have a headjoint fitted, perhaps with a collar added (Please contact me for more details).
