Haynes was a master silversmith. He patented his distinctive flute design in 1914 and the company has since become a provider of silver and gold instruments to many of the world’s most prominent orchestral, chamber and jazz musicians.
This beautiful Haynes custom solid silver open hole flute is a stunning example of Haynes at its best. It was constructed in 1957 with traditional scale and is pitched at 440Hz. The keys are inline, the tone holes are soldered and the keys have French pointed key arms. The lip is solid 14K gold and it also has the advantage of a B-Foot. It plays easily with a lovely tonal quality and has that ‘old sound’ which is full and warm with with a darkness to the quality given by the gold lip/riser. The wall thickness is 0.016”.
This is a gorgeous vintage instrument that has been cleaned, serviced and meticulously maintained. The pads are used but are not old have plenty of life in them.
