HANDMADE LILLIAN BURKART ELITE SOLID SILVER FLUTE WITH OPEN-HOLES, SOLDERED TONE HOLES, OFFSET G, E RING, C# TRILL AND B-FOOT IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION

Up for sale is a beautiful Lillian Burkart Elite solid silver flute (#608). Lillian Burkart founded her own company in 1982 with her husband Jim Phelan, whose unsurpassed knowledge of instrument design and execution built a team that can’t be beat. During the 1980s, Lillian also made headjoints for Powell and her expertise and reputation for spectacular headjoints created the demand for flutes designed and built under her own name. In 1996, with the help of her husband’s engineering expertise, the Lillian Burkart flute was born. Since then, Burkart flutes have been at the cutting edge of flute-making innovation. Burkart flutes are known for their resonance, easy control, and extremes in tonal color and dynamic range
This Lillian Burkart Elite Solid Silver flute was handmade around 2007 in sterling silver with soldered tone holes and sterling silver keywork. It has had one owner in Spain and has not had very much recent use. It benefits from open holes, offset G, the addition of an E ring (or Donut), C# trill key and B-Foot with gizmo key. The headjoint chosen was the .998 silver head with the M2 cut and engraved lip (#1668). The M2 cut is Lillian Burkart’s most innovative style of head. The air stream is quickly excited and the player achieves exceptional response and projection. The embouchure shape focuses the tone, resulting in an energetic and direct sound. This style provides a distinctive resonating core throughout all three registers of the flute. The M2 model produces a robust tone and an unprecedented dynamic range.
The flute has been maintained superbly by its previous owner and by choice the original Straubinger pads were replaced by the Pisoni Lucien Deluxe. The flute will be stripped and cleaned before sale, although already in superb condition. The sound is phenomenal in my opinion, powerful and full throughout the registers and I cannot fault it.
An amazing instrument for some lucky player. Current retail for this model without the upgraded head is $17,300 in the USA and almost the same in GBP in the UK.
