Muramatsu flutes stand in a class of their own and are some of the most sought-after flutes in the world. The sound is rich and lush and allows a wide range of tonal colours. The Muramatsu solid silver open hole flute (ST Model) was one of the older professional models made from 1962 until 1981. It was replaced in the 1980’s with the AD model, which in turn was replaced with the DN and then the current DS model in 2003. At the time it was one of the top silver flutes that Muramatsu offered and It featured a solid silver head, body, tube and keys. These models are still sought-after for their build quality and full, powerful sound.

This particular was probably made around the late 1970’s-1980 and is 442HZ. The mechanism has been recently stripped, oiled, cleaned and regulated. The pads are used but have plenty of life and the silver is in excellent overall condition with light scratches/marks. These models compete with the current models extremely well and are in fact preferred by a lot of players for their freedom of sound. They are also superb models to add a bespoke headjoint of choice to, giving a handmade silver body and mechanism to compliment any set-up. The case is original and has some scuffs to the outside but minor.
