PHILIPP HAMMIG 658/2 FLUTE WITH OPEN HOLES, SILVER PLATED KEYS AND MECHANISM – BEAUTIFUL CONDITION
Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a beautiful Philipp Hammig 658/2 flute. Hammig are renowned flute and piccolo makers and have been crafting instruments since 1780. Philipp Hammig developed his instrument making skills, learning the profession in his father’s workshop. After spcialising in flute making at the Berlin firm, Ritterhausen, Philipp returned to Markneukirchen. In 1959, Gerhard Hammig, Philipp’s son, took over the family business; however, the flutes and piccolos remained in the name of “Philipp Hammig,” as they are known today. In 1994, the long tradition of the family business passed to Gerhard’s four children.
This particular flute is made from seasoned Grenadilla wood and has open-holes with offset G and split E. It has nickel silver, silver plated keys with pointed key arms and C-footjoint. It was made in 2000 and has been completely serviced and the pads are in good condition, well seated with plenty of life. The headjoint is in perfect condition with no repairs or cracks and plays with a lovely full sound.
This is a beautiful professional flute by one of the world’s top makers. It is perfect for orchestral, jazz or folk music and the lack of a lip plate allows a more free blowing, adaptable sound from the player.
