Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a used Philipp Hammig 650/3 Grenadilla wood piccolo. Hammig are renowned piccolo makers and are coveted by some of the world’s top players. Between 1906 and 1920 the brothers Philipp Hammig and August Richard Hammig started to specialize the instrument making of the Hammig workshop. First both started learning their profession in their father’s workshop, then August Richard Hammig went to Saarbrücken and Philipp Hammig to Berlin to the firm Rittershausen to study specialized flute making. Afterwards they both returned to Markneukirchen and put their skills into practice in their own workshop. The factory has remained there to this day.
The Philipp Hammig 650/3 Grenadilla wood piccolo is made from seasoned Grenadilla wood. It has a sterling silver plated mechanism and the benefit of the high G# facilitator. This particular piccolo has been fully overhauled, the mechanism stripped, oiled and cleaned and the pads are used but have plenty of life. It has the standard headjoint and a beautiful responsive sound with rich woody tones, very typical of Hammig.
These are superb piccolos and incredibly popular for players the world over. Probably the most popular piccolo maker of all time. Ready to go, this will be a very sought-after little instrument.
