PHILIPP HAMMIG SLIM REFORM PICCOLO HEADJOINT – BEAUTIFUL CONDITION

Here is a rare opportunity to purchase a used Philipp Hammig slim reform piccolo headjoint. Hammig are renowned piccolo makers and are coveted by some of the world’s top players.  The piccolos are handmade from Grenadilla (African Blackwood) seasoned wood. Hammig are renowned flute and piccolo makers and have been crafting instruments since 1780.  Philipp Hammig developed his instrument making skills, learning the profession in his father’s workshop. After specialising in flute making at the Berlin firm, Ritterhausen, Philipp returned to Markneukirchen. In 1959, Gerhard Hammig, Philipp’s son, took over the family business; however, the flutes and piccolos remained in the name of “Philipp Hammig,” as they are known today. In 1994, the long tradition of the family business passed to Gerhard’s four children.

There are a number of cuts offered on Hammig piccolo headjoints and this has to be the most sought-after. The lip is carved out of the grenadilla offering the player more precise articulation and with the reform or ‘modified wave’ in the lip itself, the focus is enhanced and the player’s lip position solid. Currently this headjoint retails for £800 and this particular headjoint is offered in perfect condition at under half price. This will transform a student piccolo but be aware that you must check that it will be close to the sizing. This head has been used on a Roy Seaman piccolo (also coming for sale shortly) without any adjusting and will of course fit a P. Hammig piccolo.
