Description
ALTUS A1107E SOLID SILVER (.958) FLUTE WITH OFFSET G, SPLIT E AND C-FOOT IN IMMACULATE CONDITION.
Up for sale is the sought-after Altus A1107E solid silver flute. Altus flutes are renowned for being of the highest quality and Altus been hand crafting flutes for over 25 years. All Altus flutes have a beautifully crisp and easy sound in the high registers and benefit from lush, warm tones in the lower registers. The mechanism and style has been said to be based on the French maker Louis Lot with seamed tube and the quality of workmanship is superb. Their sound is unique and coveted by some of the best players in the world.
The Altus 1107E Brittania silver (95.8%) flute is an extremely sought-after model, hard to find second-hand and perfect for advanced players/professionals. It benefits from a high purity silver headjoint, body and foot (Britannia silver 0.958) which gives a rich, lush sound. The lip and riser are Sterling silver, the keys are silver plated and the tone holes are drawn. Mr. Tanaka first created Altus flutes with Brittania silver for a Renaissance of 19th century flute sound. This alloy has an increased density and is considerably softer than Sterling Silver. This allows the instruments to make darker and richer tonal color without the use of greater wall thickness.
This particular example has closed holes, offset G, split E and C-Foot and is in beautiful, unmarked condition. The flute has been fully serviced and recently repadded at a saving of over £400. Current retail is £5,299 for the newer A11 model, so this is a superb opportunity at a excellent price.
