Mike Allen is one of only a few flute makers left in the UK. He originally trained as a silver and goldsmith as well as a jeweller in London. Furthermore, his engineering background, combined with his passion for custom-made instruments, initially drove him to collaborate with Trevor Wye and Trevor James. Eventually, he established his own business, where he now crafts flutes and headjoints. As a result, he has earned recognition as a highly regarded British flute maker.
This Mike Allen flute headjoint features a solid Sterling silver tube and lip with a solid 9K gold riser. Every part has been meticulously crafted and constructed with incredible attention to detail. The solid gold riser adds depth to the sound with a slightly darker quality.
Summary: Flute headjoints can transform any flute and finding one of this beauty and craftsmanship is very rare indeed. Currently it fits a Yamaha with a 19mm diameter. It should therefore fit most flutes without too much adjustment.
