HANS REINER WOODEN FLUTE WITH CLOSED-HOLE, SPLIT E and C-FOOT – VERY RARE WITH REFORM HEAD

Hans Reiner is a world-renowned flute and piccolo maker. Born in Schöneck, Germany, he was the son of a flutemaker and subsequently honed his skills with Philipp Hammig in Markneukirchen. In 1936, he started his own company and went on to produce some of the world’s finest piccolos. Additionally, he produced a smaller number of flutes, including some with metal heads and Bakelite lip plates, as well as others with wooden heads. Therefore, this used Hans Reiner wooden flute, featuring a wooden head, is a particularly rare find.

Notably, the Hans Reiner emblem and inscription appear on all pieces. While the keywork is likely German silver, it could also be solid silver. Moreover, Andrew Oxley has completely overhauled this flute with new pads. The pitch is set at 440Hz, and the flute remains in perfect condition, free from cracks, repairs, or damage.

Ultimately, this instrument is very rare, crafted by a renowned maker, and a true joy to play. Personally, I have played numerous modern wooden flutes, and this one stands out as my favorite. The head is wonderfully responsive and easy to blow, while the tonal quality is rich, warm, and lush. I highly recommend this flute.
